About Me

My name is Alice Addison and I’m a screenwriter.  What I do for a living takes a really long time.  The projects I’m working on/have worked on take months, often years to complete.  Inevitably I’m in the middle of a draft or between drafts of several things at once.  I cook because I can create something (and feel satisfied with the result) in a fraction of the time it takes for me to achieve something similar professionally.  I love making food for friends, for my family, and for myself.  Though I’m often mistaken for a vegetarian, I eat everything.  And often go back for seconds.  My favourite piece of kitchen equipment is my Kitchen Aid mixer (in orange), and my guiltiest pleasure is the $1 hot dog at IKEA.

  1. I came to your blog after image search and seeing your beautiful photo of orange cake. You have many inspiring recipes I like. I might use some ideas for my gluten free baking. Thank you!

  2. Hi Alice. Fellow screenwriter from LA here. I stumbled upon your blog after watching The Hunter. Really fabulous work. Brutal ending -- brought me to tears. Anyway, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck. Looking forward to your next film.

    1. Hi Danny
I'm not sure! The people who would know would be the producers - Porchlight Films. You could contact them through their website: http://www.porchlightfilms.com.au

  6. I'm a writer too. But I write plays because I can write them fast -- but not as fast as baking a cake! Your blog is wonderful. Your cakes are wonderful. Your images are wonderful. They lift my mood whenever the email comes in, even just looking at the pictures. And I love the style with which you post -- never too many words, always well chosen. Thank you.

    1. Thanks Chris - you too. Without knowing your surname (totally understand the need for privacy online) I don't know whether we went to high school or primary school together but appreciate the very kind words.

  8. Hi, Just finished watching ""The Hunter"
Lovely in so many ways with lots of twists. Sad ending, tears that I did not fight. So much of life's reality throughout. Thank you so much for your writing abilities... will look up more of your work now. I got a kitchen aid mixer as well. Sincerely
